Small tuna fishing ::: by José Maria Pimentel ::: Flores Island, Azores. A day in “Mestre” Zé’s boat fishing “Bonito”, a small tuna fish. Fishermen throw bait in the water and, after a while, a school of bonitos appears and then starts the fishing at a frenetic pace. On a good day, 3 to 4 bonitos per minute are caught. Blood and fishes spread all over the boat. On the way back to shore, the weather took a memorable turn for the worst. Lacking a camera housing, the best photos were taken with my eyes only… I wish I had my Nikonos at the time…
